There are many forms of customer service and one way is getting involved with your community. The community that you work in is the one who supports your store. Therefore, it’s nice to think of them as well. The main way is to get involved and show them how much you love and appreciate the community you work in. So, FGmarket has a few tips, products and ideas that will help you get involved.
Gifts and Decorative Accessories had a wonderful article in their February 2012 issue on supporting the community with great stories and wonderful whimsical ideas for children. Getting involved with your community shows that you care and are so appreciative and thankful to be apart of it. Also, it gets your name out there and lets your customers know who you are, what you stand for and can even help increase sales and build up your customer base. Here are a few ideas that will let you reach out to your community.
Toy Drives
This is great to do during the holiday season. Partner with a local charity and offer a toy drive for children. Have customers bring in a new or gently used toy and receive a discount off their purchase. Even have them make a donation and let them receive a discount, they’ll come out pretty much even.
Clothing Drives
Along with toys, offering up various clothing drives like a shoe or winter coat drive. Again, pair up with a local charity during the winter months and put this drive on together. You can offer discounts, promotional item or whatever else you like. This gets you involved with the community and your name out there. Consumers who may have not shopped in your store before may come in to drop off a winter coat because they saw that your location was a drop off spot for this, which could then be turned into a lifetime customer.
Food Drive
A great time to hold this drive is during holiday months. Canned goods can be accepted and dropped off at your location in return for a special discount or coupon. You can even do it during the weekend in the form of an open house and admissions is five canned foods. There are lots of different spins that you can put on the charitable drives you host.
Child Care
Another fun feature that you can offer in your store is child care. You can set up a little play area for children and have your store employees keep a watchful eye on them while the customers shop. You can easily set up small tables that feature crayons, paper, games, puzzles and cards to entertain children. Your customers will then have time to shop instead of worrying about their small ones touching something they are not supposed to. This serves your community in a different way other than a drive, yet it still serves a lot of people in the community who shop with you.
There are various ways that you can help serve your community. Either through charitable donations, volunteering or by offering your customers a unique service. By serving your community, you will definitely get your name out there.
