We’ve spent a lot of time talking about specific avenues for your marketing strategy, but today I’d like to discuss a universal topic that each of you should be using to your benefit. Regardless of your industry, there is one thing that every business should be familiar with, one opportunity which we should all be taking advantage. What is this magical thing? Holidays, of course!
Don’t Fear the Obscure
There are a plethora of holidays that aren’t one of the big three of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day or even the next tier down of Halloween, Mother and Father’s Day and Easter. There are holidays out there that may not be familiar in your area but which may have a direct correlation with your business. It doesn’t matter if everyone in town knows about the holiday or not before you start promoting it, your campaign will generate all the interest you need!
Stay Informed
The best way to use holiday’s to your marketing advantage is to first know what holidays there are to use! The best resource is the internet, and it’s not difficult information to discover. The easiest way? Go to your preferred search engine and type in, “holidays of 2013.” You will get a number of links that will either take you to a list of all holidays and their dates or a calendar with the holidays written out for your convenience.
See a holiday that looks promising but you aren’t clear on the details? No problem! Just go back to that trusty search engine and type in the name. Voila! Instant holiday information.
As you can see, there’s no excuse to let relevant holidays slip under your radar. The length of time it takes to discover what’s useful to you is only limited by the speed of your internet connection. Even for the slowest speeds, the entire process should take less than 10 minutes. Don’t neglect your share of the market, use every advantage!
