When you sell to your customers, you want their experience with your service and product to well exceed their expectations. It’s important that they’re blown away and will want to visit your store again. However, if you notice a few customers absent or you just want to touch base and show that you care, follow-up with them. This is a wonderful way on getting them back into your store. This week’s marketing tip will focus on how to follow-up with your customers.
How & When – When do you want to get in touch with these customers? A few weeks out or a month out; it’s completely up to you and what you think is best in this situation. Also, how do you want to contact them? Is this by phone, email or through mail? Again, completely up to you and what you think is best. Normally, in person works best. Also, don’t forget to write down your goal and what you want to achieve from each conversation you have with your customer.
What did you talk about – If you are at a networking event, always write down their name and information. However, don’t forget to take a few quick notes on what you actually discussed. You may have their name and contact information, but not a clue on what was discussed or personal details that you picked up on.
Don’t forget the business cards – Business cards are so important. They contain all your information and are great for letting them get in contact with you. However, if they don’t have business cards, you can use your own to get their information for your personal use.
How will you follow-up – Let them know that you will be following up to check in on them and tell them if you are emailing or phoning. Tell them what to expect. Also, this helps ensure that you will follow-up and you’re just not saying that.
They are interested – You may call or email and they may not respond. It happens. However, that doesn’t mean that they’re not interested. It may take several times to reach out to them before they are ready to get in touch with you back.
Following up with your clients shows that you truly are interested in their well-being and getting to know them. You want the best for both of you.
