Within managing any business or living your everyday life, there are etiquette rules to follow. How you talk to your customers, handle business, manage your employees, and even communicate through social media all have etiquette rules to follow. This week’s marketing tip will focus on the rules of social media.
- Complete your online profile – With all social media, you have a section for your profile. Make sure you fill it out. Customers can get to your social media page and not really know if it is you or not, especially since some businesses share similar names. Use your business name, photo of business, and description of your store.
- Find a user name that represents your company – Don’t pick a random user name because you think it is fun. Pick one that is relative to your company. Whenever consumers go to find you through social media, make it easy for them.
- Be of value – Of course, talk about your company. However, also be of value to your customers. Post helpful tips or news articles that are related to your business. Everyone once in a while it’s nice to post something other than news about your business.
- Don’t pester – Don’t just ask random customers or people you see on the street to like your page or follow you on Twitter. You will come off as being a pesky sales person and you don’t want that. They need a reason to follow you. Whether you offer great tips, keep them updated on the latest trends, promote sales, or telling them about new products, they need a reason to even like or follow you.
- Don’t send requests for games or apps – This is a quick way to get rid of some followers or likes. No one wants to have their News Feed or Twitter bombarded with requests to play a game or download an app. If you like doing that stuff, make sure it’s on your personal account.
- Check grammar and spelling –Please avoid this. Even thought it maybe a simple mistake and mistakes happen, some customers will look down on that. Just take a moment to check what you’re saying and if it makes sense.
It’s important to maintain the right etiquette within everything that involves your business. Your customers will respect that and your business.
