Whenever it comes to owning a shop, you have a million tasks that you must complete. However, you have employees that you can delegate to, which helps you complete everything and succeed. When it comes to delegating tasks and even dealing with your customers, communication is such a key aspect. You want to make sure you get the right message across and that you are clear and concise. So, this week’s marketing tip will focus on communication.
Meetings – These are great to get everyone on board. It’s great to hold for all your employees so they understand what’s going on in the store and are completely aware. This is great when you are offering in store promotions or are changing store policy. However, you can also hold “meetings” for customers, like in store demos for new products. Again, great for getting customers into your store and letting them know what you offer.
Weekly Posts – This applies for both employees and customers, however, in separate forms. For your employees, send out a weekly email or post a note on the company’s bulletin board that lets your employees know exactly what is going on in the store. Tell them about upcoming events, sales, meetings or just tell them what a great job they are doing in the store. This lets them feel like they are apart of your store and know what’s going on. For your customers, send them emails or make posts on your social media page about the specials and promos you have going on in your store, as well as new products. This lets them be in the know and helps get them into your store.
One-On-One Interaction – Again, this applies for your customers and employees, just in different ways. Pull employees aside and have a one-on-one review with them. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, you can praise them on their work efforts or critique them to help them become a better salesman. One-on-one interaction with your customers is just interacting with them on a personal level. Make sure they are finding what they need and are satisfied with your store, customer service and the products they purchase. It builds up a great relationship with both your employees and customers.
Special Events – Don’t forget to praise your employees and customers. This definitely builds up morale and relationships. Plan a special dinner or luncheon for your employees to show them that you care or even plan an awards banquet for them. For your customers, plan special demos or open houses with appetizers and desserts so they can take a look around at what new products you have in your store. This is great for the spring or summer season and holidays.
Communication is key to your store. It helps get across your message, everyone is in the know and you are constantly developing great relationships with your customers and employees through communication.
