If you run a business, then it’s past time to jump on the mobile bandwagon. For a while it was possible to sit back and say, “Mobile is a fad. There’s no future in it.” But that time is long passed. Mobile is here to stay folks.
Smart phones are just getting smarter. Desktops are becoming more and more rare in both the business and consumer world as laptops, tablets and phones become the norm. People are doing more with their phones today than they were able to do at a desk with a state-of-the-art PC 10 years ago. People are no longer chained to their desks. The line of demarcation between mobile and full-size is thinning, and it’s only going to get thinner.
Mobile Responsive
Two small, seemingly unobtrusive words with a world of meaning. Mobile responsive refers to a webpage’s ability to be easily viewed on a mobile device. Without it, a customer attempting to read your site on her phone is forced to constantly zoom in and out to read through your content or select the item she wants to purchase. As mobile responsiveness becomes more and more prevalent, people are becoming less and less willing to tolerate the old standby.
Let me make it simple. If your website isn’t mobile responsive, you’re losing money by the truckload. Not will lose money. I’m not talking about some nebulous point in the near future where something might happen. You are losing money, as in right this minute. Potential customers are jumping off your page in frustration. Potential sales are walking out your virtual door. You have a massive leak in your profit bucket.
The Good News
There’s good news? Yes indeed! Mobile responsiveness is infinitely important, and because of that, it’s becoming more and more available! The free market has always worked on supply and demand, and the internet is the free-est market around. The demand for mobile responsive websites is growing exponentially, and the suppliers are rushing to catch up. If you aren’t currently on a mobile responsive page, let your provider know you want it and want it NOW!
Odds are, they’ve got a mobile responsive option already in the works, if not already available. Still, your voice needs to be heard.
Don’t let mobile business pass you by. The world is changing, and as business owners and marketers, it’s our job to change with it. It’s understandable to resist change for change’s sake, but in the case of mobile responsiveness, that argument is officially invalid.
