If you’re a small business owner, you are always on the lookout for way to grow your audience. After all, the more people following your page(s) the more opportunity you have to convert them into paying customers. But if you’ve already established yourself on the web, how do you take the next step? Read on to find out more!
1. Use Proven Techniques
There is a right and wrong way to set up your site. The right way, which incorporates proven copywriting and sales techniques, is almost guaranteed to increase your audience significantly. There are numerous books that discuss both of these things in detail and will help you come up with the best format for your business. A few quick tips are as follows:
- Less is More – Customers don’t want to wade through walls of text. Your copy should be concise and informative.
- Pictures Speak Louder than Words – If you can use a picture to better illustrate your point, do so. And customers respond to faces. Rather than using static photos of your product, use a photo of someone happy to receive it or ecstatic to use it.
- Testimonials Matter – Everyone feels more secure buying a new product or service if they see that other people have bought it or used it and were happy with the result. Find people who love your product or services and let them tell your audience how awesome it is. Incorporate a photo if applicable.
2. Target Key Words
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: research your key words and use them naturally. The time for key word stuffing is over, but if customers generally use a certain phrase or term when searching online for products you carry, why not use that proven word or phrase in your copy when referring to the item? The search engines will recognize its importance and you will see your ranking improve.
Even so, you still don’t want to repeat the same word or phrase four times in one paragraph. Just get it in there once as naturally as possible.
3. Use Industry Leaders to Your Advantage
Is there a particular blogger that has found success talking about your industry? Is there a social media personality that you follow for the latest industry news? Use them! Send them some free stuff to review. Get the name of your business mentioned on their site. Or, even better, get your business linked back from their site. Use the audience they’ve already built to come to your page, and you’ll have a chance to make their audience your customer.
Growing your audience isn’t always easy, but with the right knowledge and a little strategic thinking, it is very doable!
